Tigercub Share New Track Ahead Of Debut Album

  • Written by

Brighton trio Tigercub have shared their new single, ‘Burning Effigies’.

The track is the second to be taken from their debut album, Abstract Figures In The Dark, out Monday November 11 via Alcopop! Records.

Front man Jamie Hall said: "I had this dream where I was chasing a silhouette of myself forever down a corridor which eventually led me to this huge bonfire ceremony and it turned out to be Guy Fawkes night.

“But there were millions of versions of me burning pictures and effigies of myself at the stake.

“So I looked it up and read that seeing yourself burning in a dream represents feelings of never being cared about ever again.

“Despair. Other people rubbing in their neglect, abandonment, or ill will towards you. Which is what that song ended up being about.

“I'd been listening to Scott 4 on repeat at that time and I wanted to recreate the essence of melodrama Scott Walker creates in his songs, I really liked the idea of opening a record and setting the scene in that way with such a dramatic entrance."

Recorded with Grammy-nominated producer Alex Newport at Brighton Electric Studios and mastered by John Greenham, the highly anticipated debut album follows Tigercub’s widely acclaimed EP, Repressed Semantics.
