Gods Of Rap Tour With Wu-Tang Clan, De La Soul And DJ Premier
- Written by Marky Edison
When Chuck D founded Public Enemy in the late ‘80s, he wanted to deliver socio-political messages that gives a voice to those who have long been ignored. He has always been unafraid to question institutional injustices and challenge both leaders and laymen alike to work for change.
Public Enemy Radio will take the groundbreaking, thought-provoking and innovative classics from Public Enemy’s undeniable catalogue and deliver them in a classic fashion taking things back to the traditional two-turntables-and-a-microphone era of hip-hop. Celebrating 30 years since the release of seminal single ‘Fight The Power’ - which still resonates as loudly now as it did then - the incredible, award-winning turntable skills of Public Enemy and Prophet of Rage’s DJ Lord, The Voice of Power - Chuck D and The S1W’s will bring the noise to the UK and Ireland.
After several whirlwind years of writing, recording, touring and creating art in multiple mediums, Chuck D shows no signs of slowing down. Chuck is considered one of the most influential lyricists in contemporary music. Both as a solo artist and as the leader of the groundbreaking group Public Enemy (which was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013), he helped pave the way for political, social, and culturally conscious hip-hop. Public Enemy's albums remain among the most critically acclaimed works in the genre, including It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back and Fear of a Black Planet. Chuck is also a prominent figure on the speaking circuit, lending his voice to issues and causes ranging from technology to race relations. He is also a founding member of the supergroup Prophets of Rage, alongside members of Rage Against the Machine and Cypress Hill.
