DYGL Release A Paper Dream

Highly acclaimed Japanese indie quartet DYGL have released their new single ‘A Paper Dream’. The new song is produced by Rory Attwell (Test Icicles, The Vaccines, Palma Violets) and is a bright indie tune with assured swagger reminiscent of the likes of The Libertines, The Cribs and The Maccabees. The video finds the Tokyo band performing in the midst of a decorative makeover as drapes hang loosely to protect the valuable antiques beneath them.

Regarding the single frontman Nobuki Akiyama says, “‘A Paper Dream’ is about the fond memories you get when listening to music from your youth. Your feelings for the songs might change a bit over time, but still the music you’ve liked always gives you some perspective on life, which always makes you feel like dancing by yourself. This is the whole image of time and youth I guess everyone goes through.”

‘A Paper Dream’ is the first taste of new music following the release of the band’s acclaimed debut album Say Goodbye To Memory Den in 2017. The record was produced by Albert Hammond Jr and was quick to make DYGL the hottest indie names in Tokyo, while also sparking UK praise from the likes of NME, Clash and more. The band also played SXSW Festival and return to Austin again in 2019 to play a number of shows across the festival. Returning from the States, DYGL will play a free London headline show at The Old Blue Last on April 4.
