Marmozets New Album Coming In January

It’s been three years since Marmozets first broke through with their debut album, but the reaction to the first track to be taken from their second album, ‘Play’ feels as if they’d never been away. Now Marmozets add to their growing momentum with the news that their long-awaited second album Knowing What You Know Now will be released on January 26. Recorded with the legendary producer Gil Norton (Foo Fighters, Pixies), it’s the band’s most ambitious and accomplished offering to date.

To coincide with the album’s launch, Marmozets have shared another taster of the album in the shape of the new track ‘Habits’. It’s a danceable riff-fest which sees Becca adopt a dreamy, soaring vocal style – and is, explains Sam, “about certain people having certain habits that aren’t good, and getting very carried away.”

“We created the album for ourselves,” says rhythm guitarist Sam MacIntyre. “It’s not that we don’t care about our fans – we absolutely love them – but the reason they like what we do is because of the way we are.” Vocalist Becca MacIntyre adds, “We don’t do things because they’re cool; we do them because they feel right”

After returning with incendiary sets at the Reading and Leeds Festivals as well as a sold-out tour in August, Marmozets are about to embark upon a fresh headline tour. Demand for tickets saw their London show at the Garage sell-out weeks in advance, so an extra date has been added at ULU on February 7 to satisfy demand.

Consisting of two sets of siblings, the MacIntyres (Becca, Sam and drummer Josh) and the Bottomleys (lead guitarist Jack and bassist Will), Marmozets built a cult underground following with a series of independently released EPs. Their reputation exploded after they signed to Roadrunner Records and released their debut album The Weird and Wonderful Marmozets. Praised by Q, Noisey, NME and The Guardian, it also won Kerrang!’s coveted Album of the Year award.
