Debut Single From The Yada Yada Yadas

The Yada Yada Yadas have been described by BBC Introducing as one of the hottest bands from the North-East of England right now. Fresh from supporting UK Britpop legends Cast on tour, the band is very much for fans of Wavves, Yuck and Dinosaur Jnr. This Influence runs deep into the bands identity, transcending just music, visible in everything from the Seinfeld inspired band name, through to the lyrics of the bands debut track ‘Oceans’, which playfully references Bill Hicks during its three minutes of anti-summer fuzz. Now signed to Silent Kid Records, a debut EP is due in January. ‘Oceans’ is the first single from this.

The Yada Yada Yadas are a recently formed Durham-based alternative rock band that have truly mastered the craft of writing beautifully silly pop songs, and burying them deep beneath piles of dirt, feedback, and uncompromisingly creamy fuzz. Influenced by bands such as Pavement, Neutral Milk Hotel, and The Flaming Lips, it’s clear to hear the noisy alternative U.S influence upon the songwriting of vocalist/guitarist Mark Owens. The eccentric and painful irony of the lyrical content within bands catalogue of songs pulls expertly from the Stephen Malkmus, Jeff Mangum, Wayne Coyne school of twisted imagery, in a borderline nonsensical stream of consciousness style. Lyrically and musically, the band are obsessed with the idea of letting the listener dig through the messy surface of noise, to discover the simplicity of the pop gem that lies within each track for themselves.

‘Oceans’ provides an opportunity to glance for the first time into the bands upcoming EP Way...No Way… There’s a beauty in opposites and The Yada Yada Yadas are both pragmatic and ethereal, they builds and burn, leaving you wanting more… It’s a love letter and a breakup in three minutes leaving many questions unanswered.
