Big Mother Gig Reveal New 'Nametag' Video

The punchy and melodic power-pop of Big Mother Gig is back with the release of ‘Nametag (Singe Mix)’ which is accompanied by both a video and an acoustic version. The band’s latest EP, Almost Primed, was recorded by Dan Long (Local Natives, Spiral Stairs) and Jeff Hamilton (Violent Femmes) and released on the band’s own Sweet Sweet Records. , Almost Primed, their first release in 20 years, is a return to their ‘90s alt-rock glory combining the punk-influenced Midwestern rock of Husker Du with current hard-hitting rockers like Beach Slang. Since the release, the band has been impressing audiences in the Midwest and West Coast supporting artists like Alvarez Kings (Warner), The Yawpers (Bloodshot), You’re Pretty, Pet Engine and more.

Originally formed in 1992 in Milwaukee, BMG released 3 albums of punk-influenced rock until their break-up in 1996. At their final show in 1996, a showcase for record labels, Dave Pirner from Soul Asylum praised their energy while A&R reps expressed interest. But the band went on hiatus as singer and chief songwriter Richard Jankovich moved to NYC.

Throughout the 2000s, Jankovich would achieve modest success with his indie electronica acts Burnside Project (whose “Cue The Pulse To Begin” was the theme to Showtime’s Queer As Folk and went Top 30 in Japan) and Pocket (whose Radiohead remix crashed servers when it was linked by Pitchfork). In 2016, Jankovich sought to revive the long dormant BMG in an effort to get back to his roots. Now based in Los Angeles, where Jankovich has lived since 2008, BMG is playing shows around the West Coast and working on material for a new album.

Blues Pills Release 'Elements & Things' Live Performance

Sweden based blues rockers Blues Pills have announced the release their first ever DVD/Blu Ray, Lady In Gold Live In Paris, on November 3. The release features the band sold out performance at Le Trianon in Paris, France on October 30, 2016 in front of 1,200 euphoric fans. Today the band have released their performance of the song 'Elements & Things', taken from the forthcoming release.

Commented the band: "We are stoked to share with you that we will release a live record/ DVD which was recorded and filmed during our show in Paris at le Trianon last October on the “Lady in Gold Tour“. We decided to do this because we want to share our live experience with all our fans and also those fans who might have never had the chance to see us live. The live interpretation of our songs differs a lot from the studio record versions. We would call it a bit more rock’n roll, more heavy, more jam parts, more psychedelic parts – simply another experience.

Playing live is what we've always enjoyed most. In no other situation can you connect as deep with your fans. We tried to catch the magical moments and emotions of the live atmosphere on DVD/ record for your living rooms, cars and wherever you will rock out to it. Paris was chosen because it means a lot to us to play in this beautiful city and also le Trianon is one of the most beautiful venues in Europe – this needed to get shared with you!“

The band will soon embark on an extensive tour through Norway as well as tour the UK supporting label mates Black Star Riders.
