Fangclub Announce New Album And Tour

Set for a July 5 release on Vertigo Records, Vulture Culture, was recorded during an isolated, month-long stint at Giant Wafer Studios in Wales with producer duo Alex Loring & Tom Andrews, that tested and toyed with the band. “We always work best in isolation,” says drummer Dara Coleman. “I jokingly went into it saying ‘I’m willing to lose my mind for this album’. Around day twenty, things started getting weird - I started getting paranoid that everyone in the house hated me". “There was a real atmosphere of obsession from everybody,” adds vocalist/guitarist Steven King. “It’s the craziest thing I’ve ever done. The theme of the album became violent, there’s a lot of violence in the tone of it, towards yourself and other things.”

Steven forced himself to write his lyrics at the last minute, to ensure they were as raw and honest as possible. “It comes off as a heavier record because I didn’t have time to hide the real stories. It really captured something. The pressure added to it, like ‘that line’s pretty revealing but I have to put it down, I don’t have anything else’. We could’ve gone in and made another debut, this punk thing with loads of hooks, or I could back myself into a corner. It’s a strangely revealing and personal album but I don’t feel afraid to share it because it’s almost as if I’ve expelled the things.”

In summing up Vulture Culture, Steven says “We are so proud of this record.  It’s a culmination of a lot of chaos and inner mental violence which almost capsized the band.  Making this record got us through the fog and we have a new lease of life. The energy is real, the chaos makes sense and the violence is fuel for the fire.”

Tycho Announce New Album

Mom + Pop Music & Ninja Tune announce the new album from Tycho and accompanying world tour. Weather will be released on July 12 and the lead single, ‘Pink & Blue’ is out now. Tycho’s 2016’s Grammy-nominated, Billboard-topping album, Epoch saw huge success for the San Francisco-based group, building to two sold out nights at London’s 1500-capacity Electric Brixton followed by a date at The Roundhouse. Now, the electronic music project - led by primary composer and renowned graphic designer Scott Hansen – unveils a wholly new iteration of sound with the release of their fifth studio album.

The release marks a bold step forward for Tycho with the introduction of vocal led tracks. ‘Pink & Blue’ combines the foundation of Hansen’s distinctive, vivid signature soundscapes with the delicate, velvety vocals of Hannah Cottrell, aka Saint Sinner, to luscious effect. It is joined by a companion video - the first music video that Scott has been intimately involved with producing, acting as Creative Director. It was directed by Chloe Corner and stars Saint Sinner.

"The lines, 'Oh, pink and blue, you know I look good on you', originally stemmed from when I was romantically involved with a man and a woman simultaneously, for the first time in my life.” Cottrell explains. “It was a defining moment for me. I went from being a young religious kid who thought she would marry a man to a young woman who realised her love for women.  ‘Pink & Blue’ is a love song to no one, to everyone, and to myself. It’s a sweet reminder to all lovers to hold onto their love with open arms; to be fearless about any type of love and to be fearless about losing their love. Love is never lost.”
