Gazel Thinks You’re Not Funny

Genre blending songwriter and producer Gazel has shared the video for her latest single, ‘You’re Not Funny’. Filmed alternately between sparse rooms and the enchantingly mystical setting of a remote ruin, the video channels the song's inherent dichotomy between the real and surreal. The track is the latest to be taken from her upcoming album Gazel’s Book Of Souls, out this October.

“Working with Gazel on the film was a real joy,” says director Glen Travis. “Showing her character with performance and movement, we wanted to create something that was both visually striking and faithful to her personality. I love the choreography of Spike Jonze’s videos, this was a great inspiration for me when working with Gazel.”

‘You’re Not Funny’ features spoken word passages which build into sweeping melodic crescendos, before hauntingly ethereal choruses ascend amid driving beats and spacious harmonies.  The track is one of the key songs on her remarkable debut album; a feat of magical story-telling which introduces Gazel as a gifted artist to place alongside the likes of Bat For Lashes, Björk and Kate Bush.

That album, Gazel’s Book Of Souls, follows the esoteric story of Gazel, who seeks to find the cause of a mysterious fire which destroyed her village, and in the process encounters a variety of ‘souls’ who dwell in our collective unconscious, each of which is represented by a different track on the album. Influenced by mystical philosophy and the folk music of her Middle-Eastern roots, the album is an eclectic and captivating blend of subtle electronica, folk and pop.

Unprocessed Feeling The Fear

German progressive metal virtuosos, Unprocessed, have announced their new album, Artificial Void, along with an official music video for the first single ‘Fear’. The second full-length and successor of last years, Covenant, is set to be released on August 9 via Long Branch Records.

The German metal youngsters are back with a boom. After label-debut album Covenant gained worldwide attention with its stunning guitar work and a fresh take on djent with metalcore elements, Unprocessed release the first single, ‘Fear’ and announce their new album.

‘Fear’ reveals an even more catchy, massive sounding approach to the still technically sophisticated music, yet to be heard on the big stages around the world. The opening riff jumps straight into your face and opens up a new, futuristic sci-fi world with all the cinematic drama, huge vocal lines and bone crushing riffage on both bass and guitar, while the drums maintain the extremely high level of energy. ‘Fear’ gives a glimpse of what’s going to be one of the most anticipated releases in modern metal 2019 and is definitely a bold statement for the young band.

‘Fear’ comes with a cinematic music video that strongly reminds of modern day Netflix series in terms of colour and frame composition. Overall it captures the vibe of the track perfectly and shows the band performing in an ecstatic state of mind while the members also take place in a mysterious story line.
