Kudu Blue Announce Tour Dates & New Single

Brighton dance collective Kudu Blue released their infectious new single 'Mountain Song' alongside news of a run of UK and European shows this March supporting buzzy Canadian electronic duo Tennyson. Kudu Blue say: “We’ve been listening to these guys for years now. We went to watch both their sets when they played in Brighton at The Great Escape last year.“ they say “They make music that’s unlike anything else and we’re well excited to be joining them on tour.” The track is taken from their forthcoming EP Auras, to be released May 24.

‘Mountain Song’ is ripe with a glowing fusion of synths, bass and hypnotic beats threaded with soulful vocals which embody hands-aloft, dancefloor filling refrains. It exudes the same progressive energy as Massive Attack’s trip hop masterpiece ‘Unfinished Sympathy’, reminiscent of the burgeoning early ‘90s sounds of trip hop and dance music, where classic sounds fused with urban roots.

Citing Floating Points and Bonobo as creative influences; Clem explains how ‘Mountain Song’ was the first track composed by the band bringing their dance sensibilities to the fore. “The title of the song came about in rehearsals. When we were playing it, it was dynamic and full of energy,” she says. “We were all so exhilarated we felt like we’d taken a hike to the top of Ben Nevis. The song itself felt like a mountain, so we called it ‘Mountain Song’.”

Channelling all the grit and glory of the UK club scene before – and into – the noughties, Kudu Blue’s ‘Mountain Song’ depicts nostalgia through a contemporary lens. It’s not only a refreshing take on the dance and urban music of today, but it's an inspired realisation of the origins which made that music so exciting.
