Robag Wruhme - WUPPDECKMISCHMAMPFLOW

This is the umpteenth release (in this guise of Robag Wruhme alone) from pig farming, gherkin pickling German techno boffin and DJ Gabor Schablitzki. Depending on the circles you move in that last sentence may or may not have you going weak at the knees but, whether that or quizzically scratching your bonce, this is definitely a mix album to get excited about.

Starting off from an exceptionally mellow yet mildly charged (almost neo-classical) position in the shape of Danny Norbury’s ‘Speak, Memory’ the late-night groove of  WUPPDECKMISCHMAMPFLOW as a whole is gradually built up through moody selections from Trentemoller, Guillaume & the Coutu Dumonts and Robag himself and by track four (featuring elements from Tiefschwarz feat. Seth Troxler and Ricardo Villalobos), when the gloves come off, you’ll be ready to shake off that post-club lethargy round your front room.

Inclusions from such other notables as Château Flight, Moderat (who’s ‘Rusty Nails’ brings a welcome amount of weighted intensity to the mix), WhoMadeWho and Four Tet come through the midway part of the album. A seamless whole is expertly created out of these and peerlessly selected samples from Schablitzki’s no doubt massive collection of such soundbites, drum tracks etc.

Bringing up the rear are, amongst others, Voom Voom (the jazzy noodler of their ‘Best Friend’ as remixed by Henrik Schwarz), Ian Simmonds and lastly Zwanie Jonson. 14 tracks then, crafted by a master at his task, out of 17 tunes from throughout the past decade and those aforementioned samples, into something akin to glorious in a very personal manner. You’ll feel where he’s coming from and see where’s he’s looking to and be very glad of the invite to share the experience.
