The final day rolls around. By now we are feeling a tad groggy to say the least, so we start at the free open air stage known as the Hub. This is situated right in the centre of Brighton and huge crowds pass by as Saturday shoppers mix with Brighton Festival folks and our ‘friends’ the Morris Dancers burst into an impromptu performance. Unsurprisingly this does not help our fuzzy heads. We plump for Jacko Hooper and the allure of free deck chairs. Jacko is a local Brighton singer songwriter. With simply captivating songs.  His calm acoustic ballads are met with the outbreak of sun through grey skies.

Gottwood is returning for another 4 day weekend of electronic musical entertainment amidst its idyllic woodland setting on the Isle of Angelsey from 20 to 23 June. Headliners at the boutique event this year include Luke Vibert, Extrawelt, Wolf Music and 2 Bad Mice.

Tom Elkington was kind enough to answer a few questions we put to him on the intricacies of organising an event of this sort:-

Day 2 arrives and we head off, bleary eyed but ready for the fray, to see Dan Croll and his upbeat acoustic set. We know he is playing again tonight but we fear we will miss him.  We plump for Congo Natty’s soothing acoustic reggae hoping he will soothe us as last night’s excesses are still very much with us. Unfortunately, Natty’s appearance has stopped us from entering upstairs at the Komedia with their Dutch bands theme so we miss Jacco Gardner playing to a packed crowd.

Welcome to Brighton and The Great Escape. 3 days, 30 venues, 350 artists. Living locally we knew the venues pretty well but still managed to find new ones to explore and others we would not normally venture into that had been transformed by the festival's presence.
