Fortuna Pop! Jukebox Singles Club : Tullycraft - Lost In Light Rotation
- Written by Kenneth McMurtrie
So who says you need to start sending a year's worth of singles out in January? Not Fortuna Pop! anyway as they've started their's off this month. The idea is though that you get a dozen singles through the year & they're all ready for stacking in your Wurlitzer* as they come minus a centre. Fear not though as they kindly mail you a selection of branded centre adaptors in different colours (digital links to the songs would be handy too though).
First off comes Tullycraft's 'Lost In Light Rotation', aptly enough for the late winter weather on pristine white vinyl. This, the title track of their forthcoming album, is full of vim and a really catchy number with good amounts of aaah, aaahs, pounding drums and thrashed indie guitars. The feeling induced is an enjoyable look back through rose tinted glasses at the days when music radio was about just that. B-side 'Bad Connection' is a quirkier affair at a slower pace but a worthy addition to the pantheon of songs about making a phonecall in an effort to speak to one's girlfriend. Two good pieces of work then from a quintet who, it turns out, are actually from Seattle and which began life in 1995. Clearly I've not been paying enough attention.
