The Lemon Twigs Announce November UK Tour Dates

Currently wowing the crowds in the UK, The Lemon Twigs have announced new live dates in Europe for November, including five British headline shows. Tickets go on sale on Friday. The band will finish a triumphant debut headline tour this week, playing a long sold-out KOKO in London this evening. The band are also confirmed to appear at Latitude and End Of The Road festivals this summer. You can read about their 6music Festival show here.

The Lemon Twigs are brothers Brian and Michael D’Addario from Hicksville, Long Island. Their debut album, Do Hollywood, released in October, was recorded in Los Angeles with Foxygen’s Jonathan Rado and includes the singles ‘These Words’, ‘As Long As We’re Together’ and ‘I Wanna Prove To You’.

Brian (20) and Michael (18) have been playing rock music since they were old enough to walk and talk, mastering every instrument they could get their hands on and playing everything together (they alternate writing credits, lead vocals and instruments on Do Hollywood). Mining inspiration from every era of rock, they have crafted richly sophisticated baroque-pop songs into a ten-track tour de force – the perfect introduction to the world of The Lemon Twigs.

12 November – GLASGOW, QMU

Donald Trump Makes The Dance Floor Great Again With Simian Ghost

After their public derision of Donald Trump in the past (not exactly the most popular person in Sweden after recent events), a fan has sent Simian Ghost a dubious gift: an unofficial video to their latest single featuring all manner of A-list celebrities watching Donald and his First Lady Melania make that dance floor great again. “A fan of ours (who shall remain nameless) sent us this beautiful piece of video art, jam packed with A-list celebrities, and Papa Bear himself playing the lead! We apologise in advance for any distress caused. Very sad!”

Simian Ghost started out as a recording project by Swedish songwriter Sebastian Arnström and after two well received solo releases became a fully-fledged band a few years back – picking up extensive international press and acclaim from the likes of Pitchfork, The Guardian (who called Youth a “contender for album of the year”) and, most impressively of all, a lead review in The Times which saw Bruce Springsteen designated a small column that week instead.

“Stop Moving” is the 2nd track to be released from their upcoming self-titled LP, and Sebastian says this of it:  “’Stop Moving’ is a straight up disco track. We have done some stuff like that before, and we really liked it, especially playing it live. We wrote it last summer, when the world was still somewhat comprehensible. Now, as it continues to spiral out of control, we’re happy to offer a brief moment of musical respite from the chaos. It’s a song about letting go of your insecurities and falling into the arms of a well meaning stranger. It’s about giving yourself to the waves, trusting that they will carry you to a good place. We all need that sometimes.”
