Iceland’s Secret Solstice festival has just dropped their third and final lineup announcement for their fourth edition with 35 new names including legendary American hip hop recording artist Ab-Soul. Set over the summer solstice weekend June 15-18, 2017, in the center of Iceland’s capital city Reykjavik, festival guests will experience four full days of never-ending daylight due to the close proximity to the Arctic Circle, which has wowed foreign festival guests for the past three years.

With a massive range of international and Icelandic artists announced for 2017 including the Foo Fighters, The Prodigy, Richard Ashcroft, Chaka Khan, Kerri Chandler, and Dubfire, plus a heavy hitting international hip hop presence with Rick Ross, Big Sean, Anderson .Paak, Young M.A, and Pharoahe Monch, this is one of Secret Solstice’s most exciting lineups to date. The Icelandic hip hop scene is also not far behind with the announcement of unforgettable innovators XXX Rottweiler, youngster Herra Hnetusmjör, and female rap duo Cyber, which have been stirring the Reykjavík rap scene since their debut EP, ‘Crap’ was released last year.

Also announced is the Icelandic punk band Tappi Tíkarrass, formed in 1980 and is widely considered the first serious music project of now world renowned singer Björk. With their last public performance dated in 1987, their appearance at Secret Solstice 2017 will be a highly anticipated performance. Adding to the punk side are newcomers Hórmónar who have been on the rise since claiming first place at the Icelandic Music Experiments in 2016. Another band of that same competition, Agent Fresco who are the only Icelandic band to combine pop, alternative, art, metal, and math-rock, are also announced.       

For lovers of dance music, The Warehouse Project, an illustrious series of British club nights specializing in house, techno, trance and electro music, will be going to Hel on Saturday, June 17 from 9pm with special guests: Exos, Kiasmos, Krysko & Greg Lord, Nitin back-to-back Droog, and Thugfucker.

For international ravers, stepping into Hel, the specialized night-time venue of Secret Solstice is an experience not to be missed with additional stage takeovers from Anjunadeep, Art’s House, ATG, Circoloco, Crew Love, and SCI+TEC.

Tipped as one of Britain’s hottest rising rock bands, Milk Teeth can now announce that they’ve signed with Roadrunner Records UK. The band’s first release for the label comes with the brand new EP Be Nice which will be out on July 28th. Be Nice represents the first of two interlinked EPs, with the second to follow later this year. In addition, Milk Teeth have also announced details of a summer UK headline tour that includes a London show at The Borderline.

 “Roadrunner is the home of the bands that we grew up listening to and who have influenced our own sound today,” says vocalist/bassist Becky Blomfield. “They work with the best and we are so stoked to be welcomed as part of the next breed of artists with the potential to inspire the next generation. Our teenage selves were kicking about in little towns not knowing where we would end up, and almost a decade later we can say Slipknot are our label mates. Not bad for a bunch of kids from Stroud.”

Produced by Neil Kennedy (Creeper, Boston Manor), Be Nice opens with the grunge meets power-pop slacker anthem ‘Owning Your Okayness’ which was picked as Daniel P Carter’s Rockest Record at Radio 1, while the second track ‘Prism’ captures their punchy mix of attitude, melody and aggression. That energy continued unabated in ‘Fight Skirt’ which features Blomfield’s snarling vocals pitched against Billy Hutton’s frenetic shouts as its rushes to an intense conclusion.

The EP comes to a surprising conclusion with the final track ‘Hibernate’ which stands out as being completely different from anything else from the band’s discography. Accompanied by plaintive guitar, Blomfield’s voice cracks with vulnerability and emotional turmoil as she delivers confessional lines such as “I won’t bear the guilt of giving up or be the one who’s not enough / Don’t let me fuck it up” before the band erupt into a final cathartic wall of sound.

Formed in Gloucestershire in 2013, Milk Teeth released the Smiling Politely and Sad Sack EPs before reaching a wider cult audience with their 2016 debut album Vile Child. Along the way, they’ve supported the likes of Refused, Tonight Alive, Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, Lower Than Atlantis and Against Me!, while festival  highlights have included sets at Download, Reading, Leeds, SXSW, Pukkelpop and 2000 Trees.
