Jordan Klassen’s new studio album, Big Intruder, was released world-wide on September 22 via Nevado Music. Big Intruder is an album about growing up and making adult decisions. The eleven tracks, which Jordan Klassen wrote, recorded and produced himself, venture away from the whimsical soundscapes of his past work and exude themes of growth and maturity, both in lyrics and sound. Klassen previously strived for a cinematic sound, avoiding drum kits but tried to embrace the idea of 'band' on this record.

Big Intruder speaks to the dilemma of an overwhelming array of choices available in life, and the doubt and caution that become excuses to avoid commitment. The resulting songs are intimate and personal, guided by a sense of honesty and vulnerability. In support of the new album, Jordan Klassen will touring this autumn starting with a full European tour and select festival dates.

Klassen is a decorated songwriter in his own right who has spent more than a decade quietly crafting music that has been deemed 'unsentimentally sincere' and 'whimsically hopeful'. He recently released his EP, Curses, which was an assembly of brooding pop songs that continue in it's predecessor's exploration of mental illness and hushed vulnerability since his 2016 LP, Javelin. Writing about his life experiences is one of the essential elements in Jordan’s creative process – particularly events that he had deemed as his failures.

The BBC today announces further details of its brand new six-part music series, Sounds Like Friday Night. The show will launch in October and will broadcast live from the iconic BBC Television Centre in White City, the home of so many classic TV shows. The six programmes will be fronted by Radio 1 DJ and presenter Greg James with Radio 1 Xtra’s Dotty. Each week they will be sharing presenting duties with a different major music artist who will complete the hosting line up. The star host for programme one and the future episodes will be revealed nearer the time.

The artist host will be sprinkling their own stardust over proceedings and making every episode a complete one-off. As well as performing live, they will be joining in with the topical entertainment and fun sketches as well as presenting a smorgasbord of the very best in live music from other artists performing in that night’s show. Greg will be interviewing the bands and featuring alongside the lead hosts in sketches. Dotty will be chatting with the guests and the audience and curating the show’s interaction with viewers live on social media during each show, as well as getting out and about meeting music fans across the country.

Greg says: “We have been missing a primetime music show from our TV screens for far too long, so it’s fair to say being part of Sounds Like Friday Night is something I’m really, really excited about. One thing that’s fantastic about the show is being able to provide new and emerging acts a home alongside the megastars, introducing them to a new audience. Also having the opportunity to interview and have a laugh with some of the biggest stars in the world, on the actual telly, is completely brilliant. I can't wait to get going!”

Dotty says: “I’m thrilled to be part of Sounds Like Friday Night, it’s going to be an amazing show. Each week I’ll be meeting fellow music fans from around the UK, getting the lowdown from the viewers on social media and bringing the best music to you at home. I can’t wait!”

The series’ theme tune is composed and performed by Royal Blood. The band - Brighton duo, Mike Kerr and Ben Thatcher - was presented with the Best British Group gong by music legend Jimmy Page at the 2015 Brit Awards and has also scooped up Q, Kerrang and GMA awards. On writing the theme tune, Royal Blood say: “It’s a dream come true for us because we always imagined doing something like this one day. It’s great that a new show celebrating live music is back at the BBC and creating a home for new bands to build a bigger audience. We’re excited to be a part of it!"
