They Might Be Giants Announce New Album

Why is the world in love again? They Might Be Giants has announced the release of I Like Fun, a remarkable 15-track album to be available physically and digitally on January 19. I Like Fun jumps with surprises, vitality, and the startling point of view of these Brooklyn originals. Over a year in the making, songwriters and band founders John Linnell and John Flansburgh draw on themes of dread, death, and disappointment and set them to their driving, hyper-melodic music.

The results will leave even the most heavy-hearted among us with a renewed sense of wonder. Fresh and sonically adventurous, the band’s command of the studio and the song is in rare form from beginning to end. On I Like Fun, the spotlight is also on the band’s formidable long-standing live lineup; drummer Marty Beller, bassist Danny Weinkauf and lead guitarist Dan Miller.

While the group enjoys a reputation for delivering one of the liveliest shows around, the album accomplishes the rare feat of capturing that ecstatic intensity on disc. Co-produced with and mixed by Patrick Dillett (St. Vincent, Donald Fagen, The National, Mary J. Blige), the album was tracked and mixed at the brand-new Reservoir Studios—site of the legendary Skyline Studios where TMBG recorded their platinum-selling album Flood.

Belly Shares ‘Man Listen’

Belly is red hot following the release of his new tape Mumble Rap [Available HERE] earlier this month. Driven by bright horns from producer Ben Billions, the MC serves up one airtight bar after another before the anthemic refrain urging, “Man listen/All I got is this ambition/A couple million make you stand different/They dropped the ball/so I ran with it.”

Belly packs the punchiest flow and wildest wordplay north of the border. Carving out a devout underground following in addition to making a name for himself as a songwriter, he landed an RIAA Gold-certified smash with “Might Not” [feat. The Weeknd] from his 2015 project Up For Days. 2016’s Another Day In Paradise followed, boasting cameos from the likes of Travis Scott, Kehlani, B-Real, and Lil Wayne. Most recently, Inzombia placed hip-hop in a state of shock and awe with the hit ‘Frozen Water’ [feat. Future]—which amassed over 11 million Spotify streams—as well as collaborations with heavy hitters such as Young Thug, Jadakiss, Ty Dolla $ign, and more.

His influence extends beyond his own discography though. Not only did Belly write ‘6-Inch’ for Beyoncé, but he also co-wrote six tracks from The Weeknd’s chart-dominating triple-platinum 2015 epic, Beauty Behind The Madness, including “Earned It (Fifty Shades of Grey)”, receiving an Academy® Award nod for “Best Original Song” and notching the GRAMMY® Award for “Best R&B Performance.”
