Mad Cool Festival 2018 Announce QOTSA

After almost a decade’s absence from the city, the iconic American rock band will return to Madrid for Mad Cool 2018. Led by the charismatic Josh Homme and the first band to be announced for Mad Cool 2018, Queens of the Stone Age will perform tracks from their seventh and latest studio album Villains, produced by Mark Ronson, as well as songs from the best of their previous repertoire.

Formed from the ashes of legendary “badass” rock antiheroes Kyuss, Queens of the Stone Age were welded together in 1996 in Palm Desert, California. They came to mainstream attention in 2002 with their seminal album, Songs for the Deaf, and the global driving stomp riffage of megahit, ‘No One Knows’.

The festival’s third edition will take place on July 12, 13, 14 2018 and in a new location. With the help and support of Madrid City Council the festival will move from Caja Magica to a new location in the North of the city. The “Mad Cool Space” is now situated in Valdebebas – IFEMA with an 80,000 capacity. They will continue to support different artistic disciplines through the Mad Cool Gallery and Mad Cool Design Market as well as a new and renovated restaurant zone. Furthermore, the festival will now have a total of seven stages (compared to five previously) which will showcase the cream of the world’s musical talent.

Y.O.U.N.G Lyric Video Revealed

Y.O.U.N.G have announced their first ever UK headline tour through Live Nation in support of their new single ‘Exposure’. The band will play five dates calling at Glasgow, Birmingham, Newcastle, London and Manchester. To mark the announcement Y.O.U.N.G have released the lyric video for ‘Exposure’, which features them performing the track against a technicolour background.

‘Exposure’ leads with a funky, driving guitar riff before breaking into the sharp lyrical tongue of the band’s MC, Ben James, ahead of its huge anthemic pop choruses. The resulting sound rocks as if Loyle Carner was jamming with Twenty One Pilots, or Lethal Bizzle fronted Royal Blood.

Regarding the single Ben says, “’Exposure’ is about outing those who need to be outed. Everybody encounters liars, cheats and blaggers in their life who deserve to be exposed. In essence ‘Exposure’ is a final word to anyone who deserves not to be in your life.” The new single, which has already been featured on John Kennedy’s ‘Exposure’ show on Radio X, is the follow-up to their tearaway debut ‘What I Gotta Do’.

The rap/pop rockers hail from seemingly disparate backgrounds as hip hop MCs, punk bands, soul collectives and dance producers The five-piece (Chez Davis – vocals/guitar, Ben James – rap, James Skehan – guitar/production, Tom Whitehead – bass and Graeme Smith – drums) are already turning heads with their exciting alt-pop blend of rap, pop and rock having developed a fervent fanbase across Europe from the extensive touring they completed prior to its release earlier this year.
