Æ MAK Find Their Glow

With a new lineup, Aoife McCann and her Irish art pop outfit, Æ MAK, have announced their new single ‘Glow’. Wholly individual and constantly forward-looking, Æ MAK's otherworldly soundscape, visuals and vibrant energy conceives a bewitching act. With tribal rhythms, soaring synths and lush vocal harmonies, Æ MAK conceive a holistic performance that transports audiences to another realm.

2017 saw their distinctive style showcased to highly receptive audiences at their first headline shows, as well as supporting likeminded souls, Warpaint in Dublin; and performing at a number of acclaimed festivals throughout the UK and Ireland including Liverpool Sound City, Other Voices, Electric Picnic, and Hard Working Class Heroes.

2018 will see Æ MAK embark on a new journey, the first step of which is ‘Glow’. Poised delicately in the space between light and dark the song presents itself as a showdown. Creeping synths linger like shadows around soaring melodies and deep bass pulses through its veins. The listener is engulfed in sonic flames and danced through the fire. ‘Glow’ is a statement, a shot from a new and promising cannon. It is the start of something electrifying. It’s dance music with a bite.

Mors Subita Reach Into the Pitch Black

Mors Subita is a modern melodic death metal band hailing from Oulu in Finland’s north. The band was formed in the early 2000 ́s and has since released two demo CDs, two EPs and two critically acclaimed full-length albums Human Waste Compression (2011) and Degeneration (2015), which peaked at #26 on the Official Finnish album charts. After three years of touring and recording, the band will return in 2018 with a blistering new 11 track album titled Into the Pitch Black. The album was recorded at the legendary Tico Tico Studio in Kemi with Ahti Kortelainen (Kalmah, Impaled Nazarene, Sentenced) with additional arrangements recorded at the Demolition Center in Oulu by Mika Lammassaari. Mixing and mastering for the album was done at Illusia Productions by Stefan Pommerin.

This new album from Mors Subita showcases just how far the bands song writing and musicianship has developed since the debut of their sophomore album, with these 11 new tracks being a testament to the work ethic employed within the band. With searing vocals, gut twisting melodies, fierce drumming and the fast yet always tasteful riffing the band has come to be known for, Into the Pitch Black builds on the identity Mors Subita has forged for themselves with their previous albums, and promises not to disappoint even the most hardened melodeath fan.

These new compositions present a new dimension to the ever-evolving sound of the band, with even more emphasis being given to the melodies while also incorporating the use of industrial samples not heard on previous releases. The result is some of the heaviest and most crushing tracks the band has ever written, while still encapsulating their signature sound which has set them apart from all others in the melodeath scene.
