Belle And Sebastian New Single 'Poor Boy'

Belle and Sebastian have shared the video for ‘Poor Boy’, the latest single taken from their new triptych of EPs, How To Solve Our Human Problems Parts 1-3, which was recently released to widespread acclaim.

Continuing the EP series’ nuanced exploration of the tapestry of human lives and interactions, the video, made in partnership with Tidal and directed by Oscar Sansom & Ciaran Lyons of The Forest of Black, follows the various goings-on of an apartment building, set to the songs addictively slinky R&B groove and soulful vocal hooks.

Currently in the midst of a headline UK tour, showcasing the new songs for the first time in a live capacity as well as playing the band’s beloved classics, Belle and Sebastian have recently announced further worldwide summer festivals slots at Primavera, Benicàssim, A Summer’s Tale, Arroyo Seco Weekend and more.

Recalling their 1997 release of three consecutive EPs, How To Solve Our Human Problems has the classic blend of joy and melancholy and idiosyncratic spirit that has always characterised Belle and Sebastian. A double album’s worth of music – richly melodic, deliciously literate, as gentle as a summer stream but as insistent as a river – How To Solve Our Human Problems is both an era of its own, and part of a long, rich history.

Fri-23-Mar - Scotland, Perth - Perth Concert Hall

Sat-24-Mar - Scotland, Edinburgh - Usher Hall

Shakarchi & Stranéus Release New Track

Shakarchi & Stranéus inhabit a secret place in the universe of music, one existing at the intersection of Scandinavian poplands, Hisingen forest raves and outernational placelessness. Faik Shakarchi and Daniel Stranéus famously started making beats together inside the Gothenburg tapas-joint where they both worked as clerks. Their now 10-year old friendship is the story of legends, their sparse vinyl output the secret love of deep house 12'' enthusiasts round the globe – the warm, vibrant sounds found on those records a stark contrast to the stripped-down efficiency of their marathon DJ sets, frequently heard within the more nefarious parts of Sweden's nightlife.

The duo has been a part of Stockholm's Studio Barnhus family since the very beginning, having contributed the label's second ever release with the 2010 EP Dödskallar Och Korallrev. This was followed by acclaimed releases on Malmö's Geography Records and HNNY's label Yummy.

The distinctive sound of that early material has been expanded upon and further defined on Steal Chickens from Men and the Future from God, Shakarchi & Stranéus’ debut album. Its 12 cuts were lovingly selected from a plethora of works slowly amassed in makeshift studios all over Gothenburg during the last seven years. The album then took its final form at the same Nacksving studio where recent albums from Talaboman and Kornél Kovács were sonically perfected in cahoots with mix engineer Matt Karmil.
