Bobby Sessions confronts racial injustices in his powerful new video for, his debut Def Jam single, ‘Like Me’. The video is dedicated to his cousin James Germon Harper who was killed by law enforcement in the summer of 2012 in Dallas, Texas.

Some of the scenes in Bobby Sessions' new ‘Like Me’ video aren't easy to watch, but it's a powerful performance forged out of generations of anger and injustice. The Jeremy Biggers-directed visual opens with a long shot that reveals Sessions is standing under a tree with a noose wrapped around his neck, as he raps about slavery and systematic racism. Sessions' first-hand experiences give the song and video a feeling of urgency that's difficult to ignore. As he yells at the camera, the weight of his personal experiences bubbles to the surface—and he makes it clear he isn't just speaking for himself, either.

“These days black lives have simply been reduced to hashtags. There's often no time to grieve for our victims because another one of us gets killed shortly thereafter... but the pain of these tragedies is much deeper when it happens to your own family. I have been actively speaking out against the killing of unarmed black people by law enforcement ever since my cousin's death ... and I will continue to use my platform to speak out against a problem that negatively affects people all across the world that look like me.”

Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy recently released Wolf Of The Cosmos, a cover version of Susanna’s Sonata Mix Dwarf Cosmos album in full. During the making of the record, Oldham was immersed in Susanna’s music.  

Brian Strumke of Stillwater Artisanal Ales asked Oldham if he was down for another collaboration (the previous one got Bonny and Louisville jammers Watter together for a demonic dirge ‘The Devil is People’).  They started talking Norway, and fortitude, and mysticism; then they retreated to their respective corners to roll up their sleeves and do their own dirty worx.  

Oldham found Susanna’s original for ‘Wild is the Will’ on her Flower Of Evil record.  The ensemble from Wolf Of The Cosmos (Emmett Kelly, Cheyenne Mize and Chris Rodahaffer) was reassembled.  Joining them were two proper Norsemen, Frode Haltli and Vegar Vårdal.
