Shapes On Tape Lose Control

Shapes on Tape is a Brooklyn-based brew-wave/ultrapop group whose infectious hook-laden three-minute bangers represent a new era where loud guitars and synthesizers can coexist and even party together.

Genre-hopping producer/multi-instrumentalist/’90s groovebox enthusiast Adam Kruckenberg, formerly of Midwest glam legend Vibralux, and guitarist/poet Jason Matuskiewicz, a veteran of beloved Lexington, KY band Candidate, began collaborating in 2014, but they didn't complete their sound, best described as a sonic assault of feels, until they expanded SoT to include live rock drums.

Matuskiewicz’s lyrics and straightforward style walk the line between high and low concept with an abrupt three-chord frankness that never takes itself seriously, while Kruckenberg’s powerful vocals and synthetic re-imaginings take the songs to epic proportions. Combined with Heaverin's unstoppable groove, you could be forgiven for wondering when The Boss had time to do a secret collaboration with Erasure. With the help of Grammy-nominated producer and Hedwig alum Justin Craig, SoT's forthcoming album, Legends in The Process, is sure to be supersonic.

War Twins Capture American Kids

From protests to mosh pits, War Twins bring their cameras behind the scenes as they travel coast to coast living and embodying the days of ‘American Kids’. “We were attending protests in Las Vegas, we were rocking out in New York clubs,” say War Twins on the new video. “There’s also some behind the scenes shots of recording the album at Sylvia Massy’s (Prince, Johnny Cash, Red Hot Chili Peppers) beautiful studio in Oregon. “The video reflects a lot of the lyrical themes in ‘American Kids’ in its satire and commentary, but also in the tongue-in-cheek humor poking at ourselves as much as anything else.”

War Twins first became known for their rolicking, dynamic live sets chock full of passionate energy and that quintessential ‘rock n’ roll’ soul. The buzz grew, taking them far from their east coast homes to new digs in the heart of Los Angeles and a steady string of successful nationwide tours.

Founded in 2013 by singer/songwriter Gaetana and drummer/producer James Grey, War Twins lived to tell the tale having built a bed in the back of their ‘98 Plymouth Voyager and promoted their first demo on an 80-city tour. The years since have seen them rack up more than 500 stage performances, opening for International acts like Wolf Alice, Alien Ant Farm, and Filter, with a bevy of their own moments on festival stages for SXSW, Catskill Chill, Slingshot, and more.
