New Andrew Bayer Single with Ane Brun

Since cementing himself as an innovator of electronic music way back in 2011 with his debut album, It’s Artificial, the Washington DC-based producer has now returned with news of his latest full-length release, In My Last Life, previewed by the new single ‘Your Eyes’ alongside impassioned Norwegian vocalist, Ane Brun.

While his last studio album, If It Were You, We’d Never Leave, gathered comparisons to a dreamier DJ Shadow and remained solidly part of the electronic movement, ‘Your Eyes’ is the beginning of a reinvention for the producer. With a psychedelic synth-pop appeal, this uplifting and captivating new cut sees him adopt a more eclectic direction within his work, generating a far more diverse appeal in the process.

With a galloping beat and keys keeping the energy high, the new single could easily be filed alongside MGMT and Passion Pit, and sees him reach far beyond the style of his previous releases and embark on a path of self-discovery which fans of his original material will relish with aplomb.

Teaming up with the instantly identifiable vocals of Norwegian singer-songwriter Ane Brun (the first of three collaborations from his new studio album), the pair aims to deliver a more euphoric and enticing sound, making this a standout exception from all the other radio-friendly club hits of the last few years.

With a career spanning more than fifteen years, Ane Brun has proven herself as one of the most captivating artists in Scandinavia. Her previous album, Leave Me Breathless, was released last October, receiving huge acclaim and admiration.

The Jjohns Unveil 'Sewn'

Fresh Liverpool four piece, The Jjohns, have unveiled their debut single release for the Modern Sky UK label, ‘Sewn’. Inspired by a Fleetwood Mac listening binge while the band were out on a tour of the Netherlands last year, ‘Sewn’ balances irresistible harmonies and vocal hooks with a clattering restlessness that truly captures the energy of their rabid live shows.

Speaking about the track, frontman Dom Dunning says: “Writing ‘Sewn’was motivated by our band’s trip to Eindhoven last year, we had the Fleetwood Mac greatest hits on loop and a song that Mik [Dom’s brother & guitarist] showed me instantly hit me, I felt great… I always write in the notion of trying to create my own version of a particular song or melody and that was the case with ‘Sewn’. We got home from the trip and straight away me and Mik picked up the guitars and the magic happened. I always had the hook lines "you got me bad/got me sewn girl" for a while and managed to fit it into the end of that song.”

Recorded locally at the legendary Sugarhouse in St Helens, ‘Sewn’ was produced in-house by the very capable Ady Hall and Lee McCarthy.  With a sound lovingly true to their Merseyside roots, The Jjohns have drawn early comparisons with the likes of The LA’s, The Beatles and The Coral; though on this startling debut, fans of R.E.M.’s earlier days may even detect a knowing lyrical wink to one of the classic IRS years singles in the closing bars.
