HWCH 2018 Line Up Announcement

Hard Working Class Heroes is Ireland's annual music showcase and conference and the festival for discovering your new favourite artists. Every year they bring the global music industry to Ireland to showcase new and emerging Irish music and the weekend will also see a mixture of workshops, discussions, and panels taking place at the HWCH Music Conference in The Chocolate Factory.

These 50 acts were chosen from over 600 applications and each will get the chance to perform at the festival on Friday, September 28 and Saturday, September 29. These 50 acts will have the opportunity to showcase their music to bookers, managers, labels, publishers, booking agents, and journalists from across the international and Irish music industry.

Since the decision was made to reduce the number of showcasing acts to 50 and to focus on export ready artists, the success rate from HWCH has been remarkable. The live showcase gigs will take place in The Workman's Club, The Grand Social, Tengu (upstairs in Kaizen Bar), Tramline, and Doyle's (upstairs).

The Breeders Homemade Video For 'Nervous Mary'

In the middle of a busy street in Nijmegen, The Netherlands, The Breeders took a brief break from touring to shoot a homemade video for 'Nervous Mary', taken from their 2018 album All Nerve.

Puppet versions of Kim and Kelley Deal - dressed in custom outfits made by Finnish fan and professional puppet-maker Milla Risku - go wild performing the song as their real-life counterparts sing live vocals off camera. Wait for the final moments to discover the identity of the puppet-masters.

Earlier this year, The Breeders released All Nerve, their first album in a decade and their first in 25 years reuniting the iconic Last Splash line-up of Kim and Kelley Deal, Josephine Wiggs and Jim Macpherson. It reached #2 on four Billboard charts, Top Ten in the UK charts and garnered widespread praise from critics including the New Yorker who declared, ‘the Breeders are a model not simply for the timelessness of good art – the ways in which ingenuity boomerangs – but for what women can accomplish, regardless of whether the culture ever rises up to support them.”
