The Nectars Get Holy

Following the release of their debut album, Sci-Fi Television, New Jersey’s hottest rising indie-punks, The Nectars, have shared the video for the opening track ‘Holy’. In less than one and a half minutes of frantic guitars and energetic beats, the video sees lead vocalist Jessica Kenny in a chaotic truck ride, surrounded by personifications of lust, addiction and capitalism who ultimately suck her in and bring her to the dark side. The band have also announced their return to the UK, after they visited for the first time earlier this year to celebrate the album release, where they played at the Great Escape, Dot To Dot and shows in London, Birmingham and Pontypridd.

Their next venture will see them head to Germany in September where they will play Hamburg Reeperbahn and Berlin Musik & Frieden festivals, before returning to London to perform an IFF showcase event at Dingwalls, an acoustic show at the Green Note Basement and a final headline show at the London Monarch on September 27.

Sci-Fi Television is a succulent slice of lo-fi indie rock which harks back to the early ‘70s pop/punk era with a sassy modern take. It’s the band’s reflection of living in their twenties, their journey to self-discovery and an escape from the evils that are consuming our world. It features the previously released ‘We Will Run’, ‘I Want It’ and the debut single ‘Heaven’.

SEPTEMBER LIVE DATES

21st – Hamburg Reeperbahn Festival

22nd – Berlin Musik & Frieden Festival

26th – IFF Festival, Dingwalls, London (conference only)

26th – The Green Note Basement, London (acoustic)

This Mortal Coil Reissues Coming This October

This Mortal Coil was the given name of a strictly-studio project that spawned three albums, conceived and produced by 4AD founder Ivo Watts-Russell. Over the span of eight years he, along with Blackwing Studios house engineer / co-producer, John Fryer, and a rotating cast of musicians, created original works, musical links and reinterpretations of impeccably curated songs; introducing a new audience to the talents of a previous generation including Big Star, Tim Buckley, Roy Harper, Spirit, Gene Clark, Dino Valenti, Rain Parade, Emmylou Harris, Syd Barrett and Colin Newman, amongst others.

The new deluxe vinyl versions differ from the original releases with each album having had its artwork reimagined by Ivo Watts-Russell and Vaughan Oliver (4AD’s long-time visual partner). All three are now presented in beautiful, hand finished and high-gloss gatefold sleeves, using remastered audio made from the original analogue studio tapes by the late, great John Dent.

The deluxe CD editions are being manufactured by the Ichikudo company in Japan, coming packaged in striking gatefold paper sleeves which are printed to the highest standard. Originally made available as part of a highly limited boxset back in 2011, these new versions differ by being UHQCDs (Ultimate High Quality Compact Disc) rather than HDCDs (High Definition Compatible Digital).
