Iselin Gets Lost

Norwegian pop singer Iselin has released her new single, ‘Lost’. A deeply personal track, it’s the follow up to her debut, ‘Bathtub’, released in June. Heartfelt and affecting, ‘Lost’ builds through swelling, emotional verses into stripped back and honest choruses. Delicate, sweeping synths accompany Iselin’s vocals amid subtle production and infectious hooks, with haunting and poignant lyricism striking a touching chord.

“‘Lost’ is probably one of the most personal and emotional songs I’ve ever written,” says Iselin. “That terrifies me a bit to be honest, but at the same time it feels good to release something that just came straight from the heart. I wrote it with the amazing songwriters and producers Mad Fun (Fanny Hultman & Madeleine Eliasson), and it was a very special day for me in the studio. I think and hope the song speaks for itself, but mainly it's about letting go of something that meant a lot to you, and how it affects you in so many ways when you know that part of your life is over.”

‘Lost’ is Iselin’s second solo release, following her debut single, ‘Bathtub’. Inspired by the same muse of honest lyricism that permeates her writing generally, the track was written about an emotionally tumultuous period of her life, and formed her own personal therapy. Throughout her writing, Iselin strives to create a universal and personal message that can be shared by her audience.

‘Lost’ and ‘Bathtub’ are the first releases from Iselin after she provided the vocals for Alan Walker’s huge hits ‘Faded’ and ‘Sing Me To Sleep’. Now returning with a wealth of new material, it’s clear that Iselin is ready to secure her place as a powerful new musical force.

Dev09 Debuts Dark Alterna-Pop

Dark, brooding and somber, 21 year old Dev09 arrives with her alterna-pop cut, ‘Oh Shit’. With lyrics spiralling through an RnB-infused bass line that is tangled over a re-worked guitar riff, the song is about disassociation, and explores her own personal journey with addiction and struggles with mental health. The release follows the genre-bending and stripped-down, ‘Bored’, which was her first release in three years.

Born in South Bend, Indiana, the 21-year old Dev09 sang before she could talk. Sing-alongs to Frank Sinatra on car rides, to Verdi at dinner, and to all of the Nina Simone and Wilco, New Order, Nirvana, English Beat, Libertines, and Charlie Parker that played when her mom was cooking are among Dev’s best childhood memories. Her favourite toy was a microphone. A decade of cello lessons began at age three.

Trading her cello for a guitar in middle school, things changed for Dev even as they stayed the same. A$AP Rocky replaced Sinatra, but Dev kept writing and singing. Excited by new hip hop idols, she reached beyond Indiana for collaborators without ever leaving South Bend. Dev collaborated long distance with Phili, and released her breakout single, ‘You Made Me’.

Seizing the moment, Dev followed the success of ‘You Made Me’ with a move to Los Angeles—a fast and furious beginning cut short by her bi-polar II diagnosis and rehabilitation in 2016. Fully recovered, Dev signed with 300 and is already back to doing what she loves. Her forthcoming EP sees Dev navigate her journey with mental health - touching on things like addiction.
