VRWRK Play The Fools

East London trio VRWRK play with nostalgia and musical stylings as they return to their electronica roots with ‘Fools’. Joining forces with soulful vocalist Salem Khazali just over a year ago, producers Matt Sey and Jergan Callebaut spent the time experimenting with the way hard electronics and playful pop merge with indie earworms like ‘Face It’ and ‘Hearts Beating In Sync’.

Now, the trio present ‘Fools’, splicing together the decadence of the ‘90s rave scenes and UK Garage culture, just weeks before their Corsica Studios debut on November 1. Speaking about ‘Fools’, which layers cutting futuristic synths and longing vocals, Salem Khazali says the track is ‘about feeling alone in crowded spaces, and leaving the room for a moment in a loud place to be in your own head’.

After playing headline shows, major European festivals (Rock Werchter, Pukkelpop), Amsterdam Dance Event, Eurosonic, shows for Paris based fashion Brand Hermès and selling out Birthdays Dalston, ‘Fools’ is the introduction to a new phase of the electronica-pop hybrid VRWRK, and is out now on Run Tell Secrecy / Kobalt.

Henge: Alien Rockers New Single Has Landed

‘Indigo Dust’ is only the first tantalising taste of Henge and their debut album, Attention Earth! Which is out now. From meditations on Earth’s own heavenly body (‘Moon’), to prophetic warnings from far away worlds (‘Machine Landscape’), and even an ode to the spacecraft that transported Henge across time and space to the Milky Way (‘Mushroom One’); Attention Earth! is a light-speed journey through otherworldly sounds, an ecstatic hymn to the wonder of life and a joyful incitement to a peaceful existence.

‘Indigo Dust’ is inspired by a universal feeling that is shared by creative beings all across the galaxy and beyond, as Zpor enlightens us: “‘Indigo Dust’ is about the thrill of making art; the rush you feel when inspiration has you in its grip! We bring you your first gift of cosmic dross - a kind of music new to your world. There are no human words to adequately describe the 'Cosmic Dross' genre, though its sound is characterised by the thundering drums of Nom – an amphibious creature from the Sirius Star System – the garment-rending bass frequencies of the last surviving Venusian, Goo, and the whacked-out synths of the band’s only human, Grok. Over this instrumental framework, the band's founder, Zpor, sings of his space travels and evokes a joyous celebration of life.”

Throughout 2018, they have scheduled a series of landings across the United Kingdom. These gatherings are held with the aim of provoking the proliferation of joy amongst humans... Be ready, these will be close encounters of the Henge kind.
