Jacco Gardner’s Somnium Out Next Week

Jacco Gardner has shared a second cut from his forthcoming record Somnium. ‘Levania’ appears at around 12 minutes into the album; a psychedelic swirl of Korg MS20, bongos, space echo and a classic Jacco bassline which takes us nicely into the next section of the record – you’ll have wait until 23rd Nov to hear where it eventually takes the listener.

Gardner invites us into his Lisbon studio to get a behind-the-scenes look at where his new album was produced; “I wanted to give a little peak into the creative process and the environment I am in while working on music, to explain why Somnium took shape as it did.”

“As I’ve just opened a new studio in Lisbon and most of the album was conceived there, it seemed like the right place to tell the story of how the album came to be, and how it will translate to a live performance. Miguel is a friend of mine from Lisbon, and I really like his style as a director and his approach to mystery and the unknown. He is also a sound recorder and teaches about sound, so it felt natural to tell him about these things.”

Nailed To Obscurity Unleash Black Frost

German melodic death/doom metallers Nailed To Obscurity recently announced the release of their Nuclear Blast debut, Black Frost, on January 11. Now, the band have unleashed a first taster in the form of the album's title track. Directed and produced by Dirk Behlau (Pixeleye Interactive Design Studio & Film Production).

Vocalist Raimund Ennenga explains the meaning behind the track: "While we try to route our sanity through daily grind and to skip facing our fears, our darkest emotions are able to create a burden in secrecy - they are able to cause our mind to capsize. We tried to capture this atmosphere in the lyrics and the music of our song 'Black Frost'. A sinister maelstrom."

For more than ten years, Nailed To Obscurity have successfully developed their distinctive style, somewhere between melodic death metal and doom with progressive influences. Their underground debut Abyss… laid the foundation of what the band were to become, but it was their albums Opaque and last year's King Delusion that showed a real evolution in their sound. Their appearances alongside renowned acts such as Arch Enemy, Paradise Lost and At The Gates have only served to solidify that the time in right for Nailed To Obscurity to take over the metal world.
