L.A. Witch Announce July Tour

Californian trio L.A. Witch will return to the UK this July for a run of shows in Newcastle, Glasgow, Leeds, London & Bristol. The band released their self-titled debut LP in 2017 & followed this up with their Octubre EP last year.

L.A. Witch’s eponymous debut album tapped into the allure of warm nights on the West Coast while hinting at the loneliness and lawlessness of living on the literal periphery of a country founded on a dark past.  It felt suited for driving through the desert late at night, broadcasting from some lonesome radio DJ through a low-signal FM station.

The three-piece composed of guitarist/vocalist Sade Sanchez, bassist Irita Pai, and drummer Ellie English culled sounds from the outlaws of the warmer climes, whether it was 13th Floor Elevators’ lysergic rock n’ roll, Bakersfield country’s jangling laments, or the cool hand fatalism captured by The Doors on songs like ‘The End’.  It’s an album transmitting subdued revelry while also smirking at the inevitable consequences of the night. The band followed this up with Octubre, a five-song EP that delves deeper into their darker side. Since then the band have been touring across both Europe & America and will return later this year.

Lisa Hannigan Announces Live In Dublin Album

On May 10, Irish singer-songwriter Lisa Hannigan is set to release a live album with the contemporary-classical orchestra, s t a r g a z e. The collaboration – which sees Hannigan’s sparse, ethereal folk transformed into something cinematic and transfixing – has been taken to select festivals across Europe, and most recently graced the stages of London’s Barbican and Dublin’s National Concert Hall.

Thankfully for those yet to experience the mesmeric live show, their recent performance at the NCH in October last year is set for release in the shape of Live In Dublin, a discography-spanning 14-track live album, which also includes new track, ‘Bookmark’. Hannigan is trailing the announcement with a new live video for ‘Swan’, a track born from a collaboration between Hannigan, playwright Enda Walsh and Aaron Dessner (producer of Lisa’s much-praised 2016 album At Swim) for the PEOPLE project.

This live record follows Hannigan’s critically-acclaimed third full-length, 2016’s At Swim, and arrives in a fruitful musical career spanning 17 years and several award nominations: from the Mercury Prize to Ireland’s Choice Music Prize and Meteor Music Awards.
