Black Futures Release New Single With Bobby Gillespie

Sonic space punks Black Futures have released their new single, ‘Me.TV’. A raucous and inspiring blend of abrasive anarchy and anthemic melody, the track features a call-to-arms monologue from Primal Scream’s Bobby Gillespie.

Pulsating bass and caustic distortion combine with passionate and intense vocals to convey an inspiring message of compassion and unity. Imploring us all to reject self-centred attitudes, it calls for action to help those around us in our global and local community.

Black Futures state: “‘Turn Down Your ME.TV & Turn Up For Your Community’ is one of our expedition club mottos. We are all part of this vast, awe-inspiring web of existence. A community of humans, flora, fauna and seemingly vast expanses of space and time. In these times of division, inequality and turmoil, we want to encourage our fellow privileged earthlings to beat the grip of narcissism and see themselves as a part of something vastly more complex and beautiful. As Brian Eno would call it, the 'Wide Me' and the 'Long Now'.

“Let's burn our brief lives out in a blaze of love, empathy and creation so that it may linger for our children. Let's be brave, step out of our caves and give our time to all those magnificent people running community groups, social justice groups, conservation projects, homeless shelters.... Take your nana to the shops. This song is a blunt joyous call to arms. With our brother and friend Bobby Gillespie we bring you an anthem: an act of defiance. We are all a little afraid of the future... so let's go there together, as friends. MAKE WEIRD & LIVE FREE!”

‘Me.TV’ follows the previous single ‘Trance’, both of which are taken from the duo’s upcoming debut album, details of which will be revealed in the near future.

Vukovi Return With New Single

Vukovi have been busy since the release of their debut album in 2017. With festivals under their belt including 2000 Trees and The Pit stage at Reading and Leeds, plus support tours that include Pvris and One Ok Rock, they focussed their energies throughout the end of 2018 on writing and recording their second as-yet-untitled studio album, set for self release in late 2019. Ahead of that they’ve just released their first single of 2019, ‘C.L.A.U.D.I.A’ along with a new video.

Speaking on the new video, Hamish from the band said: “For C.L.A.U.D.I.A – Janine had this idea of a struggle/escape sequence with someone, so we wanted to figure out a way we could do it where it felt pretty real. So we decided on a one take shoot! Add in the playback in slow motion and we knew we would have a super effective look to really see her struggle. You kinda almost forget by the end that it’s one take, making you wanna go back and watch it again which I fucking love!”

The band have also just announced details of their biggest UK tour to date, including their biggest London headline to date at the Camden Underworld. During 2018, the band underwent a line-up change, mutually parting ways on good terms with bassist Jason Trotter and drummer Colin Irvine and also secured new management. Having secured PRS Momentum funding in 2018 the band were able to self-fund their forthcoming album, produced by long-term contributor Bruce Rintoul.
