K.Flay Is Not In California

Grammy-nominated artist K.Flay has released 'Not In California', the fourth and final track to be taken off her forthcoming album Solutions, due out on July 12. Produced by Tommy English, K.Flay brings her trademark grit and spitfire lyricism to ‘Not In California', a thundering foot stomper of a tune with a adrenaline-boosting chorus guaranteed to make you move.

Speaking about the song, K.Flay reveals, We’re not in Kansas anymore. I think we all know that sensation. Of being in a place that resembles the world you know, but feels different somehow and the difference is unsettling and disorienting and scary. Kinda makes you wanna click your shoes together and go back home to how it used to be.Last September, I went to Stinson Beach, California to write and record songs for the album. The plan was to get out of LA for a week, work with two of my favourite people, and enjoy a bit of nature. Stinson is a small town about an hour north of San Francisco, sandwiched between the Pacific ocean and the Redwood forest. In the mornings, we’d run along the water or go hiking through the trees. It felt like magic up there. Sometimes you get glimpses of planet Earth and it astounds you. So big and wild and beautiful. It’s easy to forget that we’re connected to this planet. We push and pull, evolving together, giving each other life. These days I’ve been feeling a bit like Dorothy. I see the plastic islands and the melting glaciers and the 24 hour news cycle where people shout because loud seems to win and I think to myself, ‘We’re not in California anymore’.

This autumn, K.Flay will embark on The Solutions Tour, which kicks off on September 3 in the US and will come to the UK in October where she will play Birmingham, Bristol, Glasgow, Manchester and London before heading off to Europe.

Ferris & Sylvester on a Flying Visit

Critically acclaimed duo Ferris & Sylvester have released the video for their new single ‘Flying Visit’.Filmed in stark black and white, the video captures the pair performing to an empty village hall, interjected with moments of stillness, isolation and loneliness. The song begins and ends with the simple statement ‘Bend down, come close, I love you’, and travels through a child-like yet somber confession accompanied by guitar, strings and a hammond organ.

Regarding the video Ferris & Sylvester say, “We’ve toured this song for so many months and when it came around to making the video, it only felt right to do a performance based piece. Simple and straightforward, in a run-down village hall. We wanted to let the song speak. We teamed up with Sam Parish-Rookes once again for this one and as always with Sam, the process from the storyboard to the final edit has been a total journey and loads of fun. We are so proud to have made a piece like this.”

After a killer debut at SXSW and a standout Maida Vale session this year, BBC Introducing invited the duo to play their stage at Glastonbury.

Ferris & Sylvester have been going down a storm at festivals this year. They played the Main Stage at Isle Of Wight Festival, and are set to play further festivals across the UK and Europe including Sziget, Boardmasters, Belladrum and many more.

The band recently announced their largest headline tour yet, where they will play bigger venues across more towns and cities than their sold out debut tour back in February. The 20-date UK & Ireland tour runs throughout September and October with the full dates listed below.
