Felix Hagan & The Family Channel Gene Kelly

  • Published in News

Theatrical punks Felix Hagan & The Family have today released the video for new single ‘Gene Kelly’, taken from their acclaimed debut album, Attention Seeker. ‘Gene Kelly’ is a narration of musical ambition and the video follows a story of an aspiring artist visualised in the form of animated cartoon doodles, accompanied by the track’s glorious exuberance and infectious chorus, a soaring crescendo of anthemic, feel-good catchiness.

Regarding ‘Gene Kelly’ Felix Hagan says, “‘Gene Kelly’ is my favourite track on the album. It was written about the madness that comes with doing this job for a living, and is the definitive statement of who we are as a band and what we want to give to people”.

The band will be on the road later this month, playing ten dates across the UK and Europe supporting Arkells. The UK dates commence in Bristol on November 21 and finish in Brighton on the 29, with a date at London’s Heaven on the 23.

Felix Hagan & The Family New Single Out Now

  • Published in News

Theatrical punks Felix Hagan & The Family have released their new single ‘Attention Seeker’. The triumphant pop punk anthem is the title track and opener of the band’s debut album Attention Seeker, out on November 24. Regarding the single Felix Hagan says, “It is the hymn for the eternal show-off, the cry of all those whose life hinges on the approval of others. And I absolutely love it.” ‘Attention Seeker’ follows the release of the extravagant rock ‘n’ roller ‘Hey I Want You’ and the electro-rock stomp of ‘Delirium Tremendous’, all taken from the forthcoming album.

Describing the album, Felix says, “Our signature sound is a very high-energy blend of glam, pop, disco and classic rock, so we will forever owe our style to Queen and Abba. But our defining influence is the world of musical theatre, the idea that songs are there to entertain, and should be as BIG as possible and never ever boring.” He continues, “On this record we massively diversified our stylistic and production palette, and listened to all manner of things like D’Angelo, John Grant and the New York Dolls. We have our usual huge banging crowd pleasers, but we have plenty of more subtle and quieter songs to go with them. There’s something there for everyone.”

From the rock-stomping ‘On The Double’ to the fabulously eccentric likes of ‘Gene Kelly’ and ‘Babe I Ain’t Coming’, Felix Hagan & The Family deliver a range of humour, intrigue and intelligent songwriting in one of the year’s most intriguing and exciting records. Attention Seeker finds Felix Hagan & The Family blending rock, pop and musical theatre into a giant sparkling monster. It’s time to put on your dancing shoes – the glam punks are waiting…
