Girli UK Tour Dates Announced

Today sees London’s most unapologetic and compelling popstar Girli release her music video for latest single ‘Day Month Second’ - out now on PMR/Virgin EMI. ‘Day Month Second’ is an irresistible electro-pop bop that hits back at bad-boy behaviour. Epically catchy, “Day Month Second” sees post-breakup Girli encourage her tribe to live in the present, making for a euphoric track with a gritty dance feel. The video sees the ever-colourful Girli stride through London, while her gang of dancers wipe her tears and perform strong but sultry choreography.

Speaking on the track, Girli says “‘Day Month Second’ is my breakup anthem. It’s about wanting to get over someone so bad but not being able to shake the memory of them and how they messed you around. It’s an angry, sad, but also liberating tune. STRUT DOWN THE STREET TO THIS. DANCE LIKE NO-ONE’S WATCHING. BLOCK THEM & BUY YOURSELF A PIZZA & SCREAM IN THE STREET!”

After releasing a string of successful singles from the Hot Mess EP, followed by writing sessions in Los Angeles, Girli has taken on a more alt-pop feel. Continuing to maintain her socio-political opinions and characteristically honest vibe, she spoke and performed at the #FreePeriodsProtest outside Parliament last year.

Last month, Girli took her unmissable show across the UK, including a sold-out headline show at Highbury & Islington’s venue, The Garage. Girli announced her nationwide tour dates throughout October earlier this week - including a date at London’s iconic gay nightclub, Heaven. Tickets can be bought on DICE or Golden Voice - full tour dates below.

Dominique Tey Goes Rogue With New Single

If the past few years are anything to go by, the Scandinavian music scene has showed the whole world exactly how to do pop music justice. With acts like Tove Lo, Sigrid, and dominating the world stage, Stockholm-based newcomer Dominique Tey is looking to join their ranks with the arrival of her debut single ‘Heartstream’. After originally finding prominence through her initial outfit Maasai, Tey has since looked to venture into a more personal and intimate arena with her new solo material, with a new EP set to arrive later this year.

Taking inspiration from dream-pop innovators such as Beach House and Cocteau Twins, ‘Heartstream’ is a wistfully romantic number that aims to add a contemporary edge to the genre. With its bold and enigmatic production, the single swoons and serenades as it plays, while her voice pulses with every beat and leaves a soothing impression throughout.

Dominique explains the meaning behind the single and references the important of her Iranian heritage as a major factor of music influence: "'Heartstream' is basically about the different phases of an unrequited love. It’s about the frustration and desperation that rises when you are miserable in love and give everything you have without getting anything back. I was taught early on about poets and poetry at home, and I’m convinced this has influenced my creations. You get an almost innate respect for poetry, in which I hope is reflected in my lyrics and vibe throughout my music."
