Soilwork Begin Working On Brand New Album

Swedish visionary metallers Soilwork have entered Nordic Sound Lab studios in Skara, Sweden, to begin recording their 11th album; the follow-up to 2015's critically acclaimed The Ride Majestic. The album will be the first to feature new drummer Bastian Thusgaard (The Arcane Order, Dawn Of Demise). Thusgaard replaced longtime drummer Dirk Verbeuren in 2016, who left the band to join Megadeth.

Thusgaard comments: "I'm so proud of my achievements on this album. I was given a great amount of freedom both in writing and recording. Obviously, I wanted to honour the "drum-vibe" that has developed in the band through time. At the same time, I'm very aware of the fact that I'm a different drummer to my predecessors. This is something I really wanted to showcase by adding my own vibe to the band's sound".

Björn "Speed" Strid continues: “On this new album we have gone back to classic heavy metal basics but with a twist of our own legacy of sound, with soaring melancholic melodies at a sometimes furious tempo and great diversity. People will recognize the vibe that we've had on the latest two albums, but we feel that we've taken our sound even further, with more energy, darker elements but uplifting structure”. The band is joined in Skara by engineer and producer Thomas “Plec” Johansson (The Panic Room). The new album is scheduled to be released in autumn via Nuclear Blast Records.

Belgrave Reveals 'Riviera' Video

London-based singer/songwriter, performer and curator Belgrave releases visual for the title track from his new four-track EP, Riviera, released on The Shooting Gallery Recordings this May 25.

A former tailor on London's Saville Row, Belgrave's distinctly dark melancholic pop perfectly pairs powerful, emotive songwriting with grandiose choruses inspired by the artist's childhood heroes such as Freddie Mercury, George Michael and Elton John. Nowhere is this more evident than the EP's first single, 'Riviera', whose ethereal, dreamlike tone serves as an important introduction to a unique talent impossible to define.

On the track, Belgrave explains ""I have always been fascinated by music that I cannot comprehend or understand. Once I heard the vocal sample while writing 'Riviera', I was entranced by it and the rest of the song fell into place around it quite naturally"
