Frog for Sale (Or Nearest Offer)

  • Published in News

On April 17, New York’s Frog will release their eighth studio album, Frog for Sale. A continuation of the series that began with 2025’s 1000 Variations on the Same Song  and was followed six months later with The Count). These twelve songs see the brothers take inspiration from songwriters like Paul McCartney and Buddy Holly.

Since Daniel Bateman returned from a four-year Frog absence (with the addition of his younger brother Steve on drums) to release the highly acclaimed Grog, the band has been incredibly prolific. Frog for Sale is their third album in just 14 months, while the band have been on the road for multiple tours of North America with numerous sell-out shows, in addition to sessions for the likes of KEXP, WFMU, and WFUV.

“This is an album about how money sometimes gets in the way of love,” says Daniel. Aptly, while Frog continues to barrel ahead with a growing audience in tow, the album’s cover, a childhood image of Daniel holding Steve as a baby, allows the brothers a chance to look back.

Frog for Sale will be accompanied by a tour through Brooklyn, Philadelphia, Washington, Nashville, Chicago, Cleveland, and Boston. Tom White, co-founder of Frog, will also be joining the live band on bass for these performances.

The album’s lead single, ‘Je Ne Sais Pas’, is out today, with a second single, ‘Dark Out’, following on April 3.

Josaleigh Pollett Is Haunted By Poltergeist

Josaleigh Pollett Is Haunted By Poltergeist

Salt Lake City’s Josaleigh Pollett returns with ‘Radio Player’, an electronics-infused and poltergeist-inspired new single. Here, Josaleigh is reunited with long-time collaborator Jordan Watko (Crowd Shy) for the first time since Jordan’s relocation to Japan, making this their first recorded output since 2023’s highly acclaimed ‘In the Garden, By the Weeds’, which NPR Music’s Bob Boilen featured on All Songs Considered.

Despite the distance between them, the pair opted to make their first cross-continent collaboration more ambitious and exploratory than what had come before. Merging analogue atmospherics, indie rock drive, and pop melodies, ‘Radio Player’ feels haunting, claustrophobic, and cathartic.

Speaking on their return, Josaleigh comments “Radio Player is a song about memory and fear, loosely based on seeing the movie Poltergeist at too young an age. It is a journey through the hallways of childhood that we leave a light on within. A pink light flickers on and beckons the listener through, releasing them changed and covered in ectoplasm five minutes later”.
