Singles That Mingle

With Captain Stavros

Bonnie Trash – Poison Kiss

Mourning Out Now Via Hand Drawn Dracula!

Things I miss about not being in Canada. 1) Dill Pickle Chips (Crisps). 2) Being able to catch Bonnie Trash on tour.

BRUIT ≤ - Data

The Age of Ephimerality Out April 25 Via Pelagic

Confusing music with a clear message.

Dean Johnson w/Lake Charles – Blue Moon

Out April 11 Via Saddle Creek

We really, really, like it. Playful, well written and always a sucker for slide guitar and electric pianos.

Panic Shack – Gok Wan

Out Now Via Brace Yourself Records

Back with a punch, and looking good, but that’s not all they do.

LA Witch – The Lines

DOGGOD Out April 4 Via Suicide Squeeze Records

LA Witch back with The Lines, of which they’ve surely crossed many.

Maria Iskariot – Leugenaar

A song that’s got your number and expressly feels like your time is running out. We’re here for it, while we last.

CocoRosie – Pushing Daisies

Little Death Wishes Out March 28 Via Joyful Noise

That is the filthiest bass we’ve heard in a donk’s.

Florist – Moon, Sea, Devil

Jellywish Out April 4 Via Double Double Whammy

We bathed in the light of all three.

Sally Shapiro – The Other Days

Ready To Live A Lie Out May 30 Via Italians Do It Better

That guitar trembles with anticipation. An uppercut of a swing from J.

Joni – Still Young

Thing I Left Behind Out April 11 Via Hand In Hive/Keeled Scale

You’ve got nothing to fear from this one and everything to gain.

Hey there Gang, been a minute, hasn’t it? Let’s ease right back into the swing of things with the latest(ish) Singles That Mingle, shall we?

Clara Mann – Driving Home The Long Way

Riff Out March 7 Via State51

Driving home the long way with my parents and no air-conditioning in the car is perhaps one of my worst childhood memories. What isn’t grating though is Clara’s voice which really shines through as the track highlight.

Youth Lagoon – Speed Freak

Rarely Do I Dream Out February 21 Via Fat Possum

A fuzzy delight. Grounded in a bit of a grungy 90s bob there are vestiges into the future laid within the track as well.

Spelling – Portrait of My Heart

Portrait of My Heart Out March 28 Via Sacred Bones

Propulsive drum tune, great for ramping up your anxiety whilst running late and simultaneously looking for your keys.

Edvard Graham Lewis – Switch

Alreet Out Now Via Upp Records

A loose and limber tune with echoing vocals to unwind to.

Florist – Have Heaven

Jellywish Out April 4 Double Double Whammy

A warm and inviting track that gently tugs you towards it.

Bria Salemena – Stretch the Struggle

Big Dog Out March 28 Via Sub Pop

Slow build pop but the vocals hang a little heavier than anticipated, what’re they hiding?

Sam Akpro – Evenfall

Evenfall Out March 28 Via Anti-

A slightly morose and wavy tune, heavy on the grunge factor. Solid debut which’s got our interest.

Cocorosie – Cut Sitch Scar

Little Death Wishes Out March 28 Via Joy Noise Recording

A blip bloppy tune that destroys and rebuilds itself nicely.

Bonnie Trash – Hellmouth

Mourning You Out February 28 Via Hand Drawn Dracula

Their thrashy downstroked guitars never get old IOO and supplement the vocals nicely.

MIEN – Evil People

MIIEN Out April 18 Via Fuzz Club Records

Full disclosure popped the tune on because of the title, stuck around for the undertones of psych though.
