The Vintage Caravan Are On The Run

Icelandic classic rock trio The Vintage Caravan are about to kick off the second leg of their European tour in support of their latest studio album, Gateways. The guys hit the road once again with Belgian rock outfit Black Mirrors.

Guitarist/vocalist Óskar says, “We are very happy to share this video with all of you. The director of the video is Nicholas Helgason who also worked with us on ‘Crazy Horses’ and ‘Babylon’. The making of the video was fun and also quite hard, Icelandic weather is not very predictable. It can go from sunny to a snowstorm in a matter of minutes. This video differentiates itself from our other videos, less focused on humour and the weirder things and is more serious because the song is one of our more personal ones.”

“The song is about touring, those moments leading up to going to the airport to leave your loved ones behind. Nicholas had a very good interpretation of the song and his concept for the video gives the song a wider meaning, he really did it justice, well done, man! We are so excited to start the Gateways Tour Part II with our dear friends in Black Mirrors! The last run was so incredibly fun, we can't wait to do it again! See you all ‘On The Run’!"

Jackie Mendoza Shares ‘Mucho Mas’

Jackie Mendoza has shared a new single, ‘Mucho Más, from her forthcoming debut EP, LuvHz, out April 26 on Luminelle Recordings. The accompanying video for the track presents Mendoza swirling with effervescent colours and warping, bright images. ‘Mucho Más’ is a self-assuring pep talk, explaining that there is “muco más allá” or “way more out there” to confront and explore with courage and joy. The lyrics were written while Mendoza was too anxious to leave her apartment, and the instrumentation was later fleshed out with frequent collaborator Rusty Santos. “Hidden reasons and lost causes, what’s a mystery now will make sense eventually,” says Mendoza on the single.

Born and raised in the border city of Chula Vista, California, Jackie Mendoza blends the cultural influences of her hometown and her motherland of Tijuana, Mexico, creating eccentric pop, Latin-driven dance beats, and vibrant soundscapes. Mendoza has been involved in music since she was young, listening to Latin-pop songs at family parties, and playing in bands in high school, but it wasn’t until she took a course for Ableton in college that she discovered an avid interest in producing and making beats. Since then, Mendoza has been experimenting with electronic ukulele-based pop, expanding the sound to its maximum potential by layering it with beats while singing in both English and Spanish.

LuvHz is a 6-track exploration of love and relationships. Throughout, Mendoza uses both personal experiences and observations, delving into online, unrequited love, the indecisiveness in a new romance, and the toll that being away for long periods of time has taken on her relationship with her home. The EP was recorded with Rusty Santos , a collaborator that Mendoza quickly realized she had many parallels with. Both have lived in Los Angeles, New York, and Mexico and have an appreciation for Latin producers and Reggaeton artists, sounds that perfectly translated into Mendoza’s music. “Working with Rusty Santos was seamless and inspiring,” says Mendoza. “When I started working on the songs with him, the sound matured and definitely benefited from the ears of a seasoned producer.”
