First Listen : Chris Ford - Say Nothing

Chris Ford

In 'Say Nothing', Chris Ford decalres a denunciation of the self-satisfied and over corporate music industry. “The world is screaming out for artists to express what is really happening on this planet right now. Sadly very few step up to the plate. Instead we get a diet of the same old, same old, written by teams of predictable co-writers and producers going from artist to artist writing banal lyrics to predictable radio “lite” melodies. Say Nothing will ruffle a few feathers, but it is high time that was the case. There needs to be a new manifesto in music that puts politics and social conscience back in the spotlight.”

The single precedes new album Good Morning America, out 24 June 2016 on Track 37 Records.

First Listen : Sam Sure - Catching Feelings

Sam Sure

With his debut EP for award-winning label Black Butter Records out today, London based singer/songwriter Sam Sure has shared these beautiful visuals to the lead single and Two Inch Punch produced title track ‘Catching Feelings’, shot in South Africa.

While previously debuted EP track ‘Oh My God’ was about “the questions, the doubts, the fights, the mess” in a relationship, and ‘Stay There’ proved that Sure can move into club territory, the touching piano notes of ‘Signs Of Life’ brought the tempo down and showcased the young artist doing what he does best – tearing up your heartstrings and making you dance at the same time. Indeed these moments of conflict are a core part of his songwriting process, taking the listener through the ups and downs that occur in everyday life. He confirms, “I just want to make records that are honest. These songs are like polaroids. Moments that define relationships.”

Propelled into the spotlight in late 2014 following a collaboration with London based producer Sam O’Neill aka TCTS, Sam Sure soon caught the attention of Radio 1’s Zane Lowe and Annie Mac, returning with the stunning follow up single ‘Hunger’ before 2015’s wistful double effort ‘Cracks’ and ‘Me & You’ for Black Butter.

From touring with BBC Sound of 2015 winners Years & Years on their sold out UK headline tour to graffitiing the backdrop for Skepta and Fekky’s ‘Way Too Much’ video, it’s hard to pigeonhole a figure whose talents stretch from vivid street art to profound storytelling through music.
